Porridge with Carob Syrup, Nuts and Fruit

Ingredients (for one serving)

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup low fat milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons slivered almonds
  • 1-2 tbsp of carob syrup or honey
  • 1 mashed banana or pieces of fresh fruit
  • A few sultanas (raisins)

 

Instructions

Put the rolled oat and water in a pan and cook for a few minutes until porridge becomes creamy. Stir through trim milk.  Cook for one more minute. Mix through cinnamon and the mashed banana. Sprinkle almonds on top, one tbsp of honey or carob syrup and sultanas. You can  mix the porridge with different kinds of fresh or dried fruit.
